A lovely fine day for the Red Ride 2024 - Ride Against Domestic Violence. We had three members in club cars (all Toranas!) meet at the northbound BP on the highway. After some coffee we headed off to the Caboolture Show grounds. There were only a few cars already there, including a Torana SLR 5000 which we parked beside. More cars slowly arrived. There was a good band playing and plenty of food stalls. We had some good conversation with other car owners and just enjoyed the beautiful autumn day.

A beautiful fine day club members arrived early at the meeting point McDonalds Newmarket for coffee and or breakfast. Andrew and Lisa Keen from Toowoomba perspective new club members in their FX Holden Utility were waiting in car park ready for the club run, I introduced them to everyone in attendance
At 8:10 am we did a drivers briefing and handed out run sheets, at 8:15 am sharp we left for the scenic drive to Stop #1 Rosewood for morning tea, Here we set up the table and boiled the kettles for tea or coffee with plates of apple pie, carrot cake, biscuits etc for morning tea members had brought, everyone helped themselves. It was great talking with all the club members and partners. After morning tea we visited the fully restored Cobb & Co Coach in a special humidity controlled building an excellent restoration with history as Rosewood was a stop for the Cobb & Co coaches. We continued our scenic drive in the country to Stop# 2 the Queensland Transport Museum in Gatton parked in Car Park and went in to meet our volunteer guide Nicholas who showed us around the Museum and explained all the different vehicles on display and answered all of our questions. After the tour it was into the Colonial Restaurant onsite for lunch, we had a very long table set up for the club . A very enjoyable day.

A good run to Rick's Garage at Palmwoods today. We had 5 club cars and a daily driver.
After meeting at the BP truckstop on the highway, Muz led the way along Steve Irwin Way through Landsborough and the Mooloolah Valley and managed to only miss one turn and take one wrong turn.
The food and drinks were good as was the company and conversation.
Unfortunately, we were not able to park the cars together so limited pics were taken.

Caboolture Historical Village Australia Day event
A big thankyou to those that attended the Australia Day Run at the Caboolture Historical Village.
We had three members bring their club cars as well as several in their daily drivers.
It was extremely hot and uncomfortable, but thanks to Col our President he brought along a battery powered fan which was great, and I'm sure we will all be out purchasing one tomorrow!!

Our Poker Run attracted 17 people and 10 cars, great to see, made the day a success.
We met at Buchanan Park Burpengary finishing in Woodford for lunch. Information Sheets with directions were handed out together with a car names quiz.
We had to scrap our route directions because of a major traffic jam on the M1. After a discussion at the morning tea break another route was decided on.
A driving skills test was conducted in the Burpengary High School car park. Several paper cups were flattened in the event, however 5 drivers managed to successfully negotiate the course without too much difficulty. Our ace driver Andrew Dunne in his red FJ was the first to successfully complete the course and after some consideration it was decided he won the prize.
There were 5 stops along the way where a card in a sealed envelope was handed out not to be opened till the final destination. Tim Leon won the prize for the best Poker Hand, 3 Queens and he also had 11 cars with birds in their names and won that prize as well, but being a kind hearted soul generously gave the prize to Steve Robertson who had 8 car names.
Overall a fun day.

Sunday August 19 2023. The Barn & Scotty's Garage Flagstone Creek
Members of our club met with members of the HKTG club at McDonalds Goodna
at 9:30am.
After coffee we left at 1000 and cruised up the Warrego Highway to Gatton and then through the Lockyer
Valley countryside to Scotty's Garage at Flagstone Creek.
Along the way several more HKTG members and their cars joined the run.
After parking and the customary inspection of the other cars we had a look around and then ordered
lunch.
The old fashioned home style food was excellent and worth the wait.
